Sean Longstaff injured, Andy Carroll close to Newcastle return, says Steve Bruce

While Andy Carroll is near some return for Newcastle, sean Longstaff has also long suffered a foot injury in practice, states head coach Steve Bruce.
After recovering from a knee injury which kept him from the last stages of their previous effort longstaff has played.
The 21-year-old drawn interest from Manchester United in the summer after his performances during his breakthrough year, but Bruce confirmed he has been sidelined due to an accident in training.
Bruce stated:”Regrettably, Sean Longstaff turned into an ankle yesterday in practice. He will not make.
“He tried to obstruct a cross and unfortunately twisted his ankle and we won’t know how severe that is until another few days. That is a small blow for us.
“It is one of the freak ones that sadly occurs. We had been disappointed for him which we’ve lost a player to some freak crash. That is what happens in soccer regrettably.”
Newcastle started the year with beats Arsenal and Norwich, but rallied to get a shock win at Tottenham due to the purpose of Joelinton.
The Brazilian striker hasn’t faced much competition for his place in the side however he could be challenged by Andy Carroll, who’s nearing a return after he was re-signed on Deadline Day.
Bruce stated:”[Carroll has] made big progress this week. He’s delighted with how it has gone up to now. It’s good news for us.
“I guess for everyone to watch him associating with training was great for him, good for your team of course and also people want now some favorable news from his professional.
“It’s always quite tricky to place timescale on somebody like Andy, he is fit when he is fit. He is joined in, he’s worked really hard, there is a grin across his face this afternoon.
“When you’ve got a ankle like he has got, it is always the reaction to the job he is set in. In the present time it is all very excellent.”
Newcastle face a trip as they look to be the first team to accumulate points from Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, also Bruce admits it will be a challenge.
He added:”We are going to European champions that have not lost a game at home for two and a half an hour.
“They are as good a group as you are going to play against so we are going to have to defend well that’s for certain. But we must take part and show that endurance just like we did against Spurs.
“When we’ve got it, can we trigger a threat and that has got to be the game plan straight away again.
“It’s a wonderful stadium with a great support, a big club, large history, big tradition. Perform them and to go there is for me going to be one of the highlights because they are rather unique in what they have done through the years in their background.
“I have always just enjoyed it. From the big games it’s imperative that you simply love it, that’s exactly what were inside for. It couldn’t be difficult because they’re a very, very great team now.”
