World heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson says that she will now take a month off before making the year ahead her focus.
Johnson-Thompson place a new British record to win gold in Doha, beating Olympic and defending champion Nafissatou Thiam.
Her points total of 6,981 was the sixth-highest complete in History and surpassed the 6,955 set by Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill at the London Olympics.
She told Sky Sports reporter Geraint Hughes her strategy is to take a rest before turning her focus in Tokyo summer.
It is definitely necessary to take time off, its been a very long season. Idid an year too andve been competing since January.
Its October so I will likely have about a month off and try and wind down and unwind. Normally Ive got a small bit longer but because its year we have to get back into it
Tokyo will probably be her third Olympic Games having finished 13th at then sixth in Rio and London 2012 four decades after where she was one of the favorites for the Gold trophy in Rio.
That disappointment had followed a World Championship in Beijing in which she ended the contest in 28th place and neglected to register a mark in the long jump, adventures she says that helped her reach Gold at Doha.
They are all experiences which have helped me get to this stage and help me make the changes necessary to perform at the level. It is my journey.
The World Champion also missed out by only 19 points to the magical 7000 point mark inside the Khalifa Stadium but she says it is an obsession and will now just focus on winning awards.
It has been my fantasy for a long time, 7000 points. Ive been vocal about it if I was younger because I used to go in an app where you might type in all the performances and see what score could come out and I was always just put in combinations of score to attempt to get 7000.
I have thrown out the window and I am just hoping to execute when I am out there and it looks like a formula that is working for me
