Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio comes retired from football after a short bout with side Zenit St Petersburg.
After spending 25 years in the club in which he also won four walkers in addition to seven Serie A names marchisio finished his stay at Juve last year. He earned 55 caps for Italy, the final of that was in 2017.
It is a significant decision but a very tough one. It was right to reveal it. I made the decision to retire because I realised that my body was no longer reacting as the mind wanted, Marchisio told reporters at Juves Allianz Stadium.
He combined Zenit on a bargain in September a year ago but cut his spell brief this season because of a persistent knee issue after managing.
I spent unforgettable moments on the field… I thank Juventus and the other groups I played , my team-mates, managers and trainers that gave me all this, he further added.
Here I raised my most important trophies. These are the emotions that will always stay within me.
