Since they started their Champions League campaigns with beats Chelsea manager Frank Lampard along with liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp were left to reflect penalty incidents.
Ross Barkley missed a opportunity to equalise for Chelsea in the place as they lost 1-0 at home.
Meanwhile, Napoli goal in their 2-0 win over holders Liverpool came out of a doubtful spot-kick.
“For me it’s very clear and clear, no punishment,” said Klopp.
German poet Felix Brych pointed to this spot with eight minutes when Andy Robertson was thought to have fouled Jose Callejon, left.
Before former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente secured the win with a goal in stoppage-time the spot-kick was transformed by dries Mertens.
“Callejon jumps before he’s got any contact,” additional Klopp. “But we cannot alter that we have to be crucial .
“We did well in a lot of moments, we played a lot of good football but we didn’t finish ”
Chelsea manager Lampard was likewise left to rue a key penalty incident when he saw Barkley’s late attempt clip on the top of the pub.
There were confusing scenes minutes earlier when it appeared like last month, Jorginho, that scored for Chelsea in their Super Cup defeat, was about to take the penalty.
Barkley ended up carrying the ball after talks with several of the team-mates including captain Cesar Azpilicueta and was insistent.
“Ross is a penalty taker,” said Lampard. “He even scored a couple in pre-season and he was today when he arrived and he missed it.
“I really don’t understand what the dialogue was. Jorginho and Willian were the penalty takers about the pitch and if Ross comes on he also becomes the penalty taker and he missed it”
The miss capped a frustrating night for Chelsea, who saw midfielder Mason Mount forced off during the first half with a foot injury.
“We probably should have won, or at least got a draw,” additional Lampard. “We created enough chances, we had the punishment, and we all surrendered with their one shot on goal.
“It is a harsh lesson but that’s Champions League football. We should have obtained more tonight.”
Much like Lampard, Klopp felt his side deserved at least a point, together with conquer meaning they are the winners of the competition to lose the opening match of the following campaign because AC Milan in 1994.
“It was a far better match than we played when we lost 1-0 at the previous minute [to Napoli last season],” said Klopp. “This was an open match, in minutes we controlled the game, but we had a great deal of counter-attacks and did not finish them off.
“That is a problem. Then we had this game that is wild, we had been running, they ran. They have killed everybody on the pitch, and began controlling and then we’ve conceded a penalty. Obviously that does not help and I have seen it now, I do not think that’s a punishment.”
Though he wants his side to bounce back immediately when they host Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend Regardless of the defeat Lampard is convinced his side can progress from the bunch.
“That is the very fact of this Champions League. This means the following two matches against Lille and Ajax are more important, especially being back away from your home,” said the former England midfielder.
“We will have strong focus on those games to attempt to find a result but in context it’s 1 game achieved in a set where groups can take points off each other. There is no reason to be too downbeat.
“It wasn’t a terrible performance tonight. Liverpool will be the best group in the nation on form and we have to be ready for it.”
