Billesdon Brook bags Sun Chariot prize

Not for the first time in her career, Billesdon Brook caused a Little Newmarket upset at Saturdays Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes with victory.

The Richard daughter of Champs Elysees shocked many with a 66/1 victory in last seasons 1000 Guineas in the Headquarters, after which she failed to triumph in her five appearances of racing.
However, the signs of a return to her very best were there for everybody to see following wins at Chelmsford and Goodwood this summer and, expertly guided by Sean Levey, she swooped late at the closing stages to enroll her second Group One victory – now in 16/1.
Falmouth Stakes winner Veracious (10/1) drifted markedly in the betting beforehand but looked to have made a race-winning movement when delivered to the front by winner jockey-elect Oisin Murphy a furlong and a half from the finish, but she couldnt cope with all the strong-staying winner and had to pay for a length and a half second.
Third moved into recent Matron Stakes heroine Iridessa (4/1), while front-runner Laurens could not claim the fairytale finish to her livelihood and weakened out of the reckoning overdue on.
